EPISKOPI

Episkopi village stands 7 kilometers north of Ierapetra. Here stands an interesting byzantine church. Agios Georgios’s Church. Panagia’s new church uses sections from the byzantine like the entrance and the columns. In the back there are some marble residues from the older church.

Panagia’s church was a metropolitan temple during the second byzantine period and according to the tradition, the name was Panagia with seven of the seven domes it had.
