Ha Gorge is a special characteristic of Ierapetra’s relief. It is considered as one of the wildest canyons in Greece and it probably took its name from the verb “hasko” which means gap. We could say that it is a virgin habitat full of flora and fauna, never touched by human as its configuration does not allow anyone to know it well, pass or take advantage of it.

Sarakina is located a few meters outside and on the northern side from Mythoi Ierapetra’s village and in a small distance from the beach village Myrtos where the river flows. Its name comes from Saracen conquerors, place name that you can see in many places of Crete.

Mesonas gorge is located in the northern slopes of mounts Thryptis near Ierapetra’s Kavousi, in village Avgos and connects Thrypti’s plateau with Kavousi. It’s a small canyon, four kilometers length with technical descents that requires equipment in order to climb down from its litter. However it’s passable along both of its sides.

Orinou Gorge located close to Makrys Gyalos, begins from the green village Orino and concludes in Koutsouras after 3-4 hours march.

Havgas gorge is located very close to village Kalamavkas in twelve kilometer distance from Ierapetra. The canyon is very beautiful and the length is relatively small and the passage through the river’s litter is very easy even for amateur passengers.
